Look at Any Horses Head

Is his profile straight, or does he have a Roman nose or he dished face?

Are his eyes large and soft, almond shaped, or hooded?

Are his ears broad and set wide apart, or are they fine and narrow at the top?

What about his mouth, lips, nostrils, muzzle, chin, and jowls?

The different parts of a horse’s face will give you clues to his personality

A dished face horses likely to be sensitive

A horse with an almond-eye is often standoffish

A horse with lop ears is usually dependable

Consider a horse’s body

Is his neck well-placed imbalanced?

Is his back long or short?

These features will offer insight into his behavior

A thick neck can limit collection

A long back may be weak and more prone to pain, which can lead to resistance
