All in all, a nice presentation for someone relatively new to riding or someone learning to lunge a horse. I didn’t give 5 stars because I expected a little more from someone of this caliber. I have seen better footage when starting a young horse on the lunge. I prefer the first of the Zeilinger series, which I think covers this topic better. The second DVD, which includes exercises that Mr. Kottas’ daughter did whilst being lunged, was very correct but nothing outstanding.

I have found a common problem among many of these instructional videos is a lack of in depth discussion of what was going on, proper use of equipment, etc. and this one is no exception. The horses used were obviously already well-schooled so there were no surprises so you know what it should look like, but not what to do when it doesn't happen that way. They could have done away with the background polka music as well!
