I just couldn't believe my eyes when I started watching this DVD--both Al Dunning and Lynn Palm very professionally demonstrated how dressage can be compatible to both english and western training and tack! Their exercises were very applicable for riders of all western riders as well as beginner dressage enthusiasts, and all my western riding friends loved the DVD!

This video is mainly showing the difference between reining and english dressage. This is mostly showing a rider how to ride a horse that is already trained. The exercises are mostly for horses that are already trained. There is not a lot of horse training, rather rider training. For example; sitting up straight, and leg use etc. Al also likes to show off his sliding stops but he doesnt cover much on teaching the horse to do a sliding stop other than to sit deep before using your reins. This video would be great for begining riders that own a trained horse who want to continue to keep their horse performing well. This move is not for training your horse to do western dressage... the title is slightly missleading.

Many people view western & dressage disciplines as very separate entities. This DVD goes a long way to showing the actual similarities. It is extremely well done, and shows in practice the basics of balance and alignment needed for both, as well as the applications. I would recommend this video to anyone who rides, regardless of discipline.
