There are two discs - one for Flatwork and one for Jumping and I found both to be equally compelling and effective. For me, the strength of these instructional DVDs is how much actual riding coverage there is - you are watching Pippa Funnell give lessons to three of her students almost as though there weren't cameras rolling. This approach gives you the opportunity to observe a horse and rider perform through her eyes for more than a few moments. She has her students perform exercises you can easily implement in your own training and addresses the same kinds of things that come up for most us - not being forward, spooking, not responding to the leg, over using your reins and allowing your horse to move naturally through being balanced. When Pippa does address the viewer it is as though you were also her student. Her manner is always positive and humble - she includes herself when she describes common rider habits/faults and stresses staying positive and disciplined to work on your riding and train your horse. I found these DVDs so inspiring and helpful I ended up buying a set for myself. Highly recommend, especially for people who are visual learners.

I got my flatwork and jumping spring fix watching these lengthy knowledge packed DVD's. Pippa is a very easy going and fun to watch. She puts her students and horses through some great exercises and she rides them as well. She stresses that solid foundation work based on riding balanced and quiet is essential to be in sync with your horse. I would recommend anyone coming from a long winter's rest or in a slump watch these to get back on track.
