With the top 15 scores from the Special qualifying for the grand finale of these Championships the capacity crowd was treated to some sensational dressage and they were not disappointed as each of the medal winners achieved personal bests.

Gold medal winner Adelinde Cornelissen (NED) and Jerich Parzival were in a class of their own and this time there were no mistakes as she posted a score of 88.839%.

“She did a wonderful job and was the clear winner on the day,” commented ground jury president Ghislain Fourage afterwards.

Silver medallist Carl Hester (GB) and 10 year old Uthopia performed a brand new freestyle and although not quite in the class of the winner were still enthusiastically acclaimed by the crowd “Somehow we arrived at all the right places at the right time,” said Carl, “for such a young horse to do what he did here, I couldn’t be happier with him.”

The Bronze medal went to Sweden and Patrik Kittel and his 12 yr old stallion Watermill Scandic whose faultless and accurate display edged out World Silver Medallist Laura Bechtolsheimer (GB) and the 16 year old Mistral Hojris.

The top 12 tests are shown in full in the FEI European Dressage Championships Rotterdam 2011 – Grand Prix Freestyle to Music DVD with no commentary during the tests.
