Farrier 101: Guest farrier Johnathan Myers talks with Heather about horses' feet and why it is so important to schedule regular visits from an experienced farrier. He shows each part of a horse's hoof, explains his tools and how they are used, and demonstrates how he trims a hoof and nails on a shoe.

Learn to put together a feed chart and how to tell if your grain and hay are in good condition or if they are old or moldy. Also see how to measure your horse's feed by weight, not volume.
First Aid: Veterinarian Travis Blackwelder walks Heather and her students through some common horse ailments and what to do to treat them. Learn the signs of life-threatening conditions that require immediate treatment by a vet, and learn first aid for more common injuries that you can treat yourself. Demonstrated are bandaging legs for injury and for prevention, taking a horse's pulse and temperature, and more.
