Linda Tellington-Jones has spent a lifetime with horses. Her 24 year showing career includes wins in endurance, dressage, three-day eventing, steeple chasing, as well as English and Western classes. In the early 1960’s Linda began teaching amateurs how to start their own horses using a system that is safe and easy for both horse and rider. Over the years she has incorporated many unconventional ideas into her training methods, including influencing a horse’s nervous system through touch. Linda’s equine expertise has evolved into a training method called T.E.A.M. (Tellington-Jones Equine Awareness Method).
The T.E.A.M. approach was developed when Linda discovered that physical pain, soreness, and tension can cause behavior problems in horses, affect personality and limit a horse’s potential performance. The T.E.A.M. method results in communication and understanding between horse and handler. It teaches the horse to think rather than to just react instinctively. The unique training involves three stages: Body Work, which relives tension and pain to affect behavioral and locomotive problems in horses; Ground Exercises, to enhance coordination, balance, obedience, self-control, focus and willingness to learn; Riding Awareness, how balance, breathing, and visualization affects your horse’s attitude, stride, confidence, and performance.
